INTELLITRACK INVENTORY V8.1
User Manual
94
Initializing the System
Once you have set up your system options and added lookup data, you are
ready to add locations and items to the database. If you have not already
done so, IntelliTrack recommends that you complete the tutorial for this
module. The tutorial provides the basics of building an inventory database.
Consider the following methods of preparation:
Manual Entry: Manually enter inventory information, including loca-
tions, into the Inventory system. Please refer to
Creating Locations” on
page 94 and Adding Items” on page 98 for more information.
Import: Import existing inventory information from another system
(such as a spreadsheet) into the Inventory system. Add inventory details
later. For information about the standard IntelliTrack import feature,
please refer to
Import/Export” on page 123. For information about the
full Microsoft Access import feature, please refer to
Microsoft Access
Integration” on page 307.
Creating Locations
Locations reside within a “Site” and are added to a site at the Location
form. When you create locations for a site, the warehouse space is divided
into specific areas.
Important: Using this form is optional if the site and location data are
already present.
Warning: When entering data in the application, DO NOT USE special
characters or quotes with the exception of dashes, dots, and spaces. Except
for dashes, dots, and spaces, if you use special characters or quotes when
entering data in the application, the database will become corrupted. For
more information, please refer to
Precautions When Entering Data” on
page 42.
Use the Location form to list all locations, and to add, delete and change
location data. The following information is part of a location record:
